Petros, the Lampadarios of the Holy Chuch of Christ ( Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople)
Lakoros, the Protopsalte of the Holy Church of Christ
Hourmouzios, the Chartophylax of the Holy Chuch of Christ
A ramarquable authentic performance by the well known Greek Byzantine Choir under the direction of Lycourgos Angelopoulos.
Superb polyphonic marials, excerpts from five Iberian 13th century manuscripts: Madrid, Las Huelgas, Ripoll, Scala Dei, Tortosa
The delicate, crystal clear voices of Ligeriana, the female voice ensemble, breathe new life into these precious partitions that blend the powerful intervals of the polyphony of Ars Antiqua with the luminous melisma of the Iberian peninsula.
A wondrous combination of purity and beauty.

A magnificent programme built around a theme dear to the Medieval heart: the garden. It is also a theme that allows us to cover five centuries of medieval music - choral and instrumental.
Sacred and profane compositions dialogue within a movement that descends from heaven to earth, before ascending again toward the firmament.
A unique anthology comprising Gregorian chants, polyphony, trouvère songs, chansons courtoises, love songs, instrumental compositions for leisurely hours…

The songs of the pilgrims of Saint-Jacques : 12th 15th centuries
Taken from the most famous manuscripts (Cantigas de Santa Maria, Llibre Vermell, Codex Calixtinus), this programme is a testimony to the richness of the meetings, exchanges and artistic or human encounters involved in the Compostelle pilgrimage. Catherine Joussellin has assembled the finest singers and medieval soloists to bring us a unique anthology around this thousand-year old walk, its earthly beauty and its mysterious celestial
resonances.

The prodigious pilgrimage to Compostella, Spain relived in the music of one of the most passionate medieval manuscripts: the famous Codex Calixtinus, whose repertory offers us an exceptional insight into 12th century liturgy.
This outstanding interpretation from the ensemble Discantus succeeds in creating a new texture of sound: the interplay as several choirs respond, the alternation between station and procession, the echoing of voices and bells…

The composers featured on this disc range from those who never went to the New World, but whose works were widely performed there (Carlos Patino). Americanized Spaniards like Araujo, and Americans like Moraes Pedrozo, whose Te Deum is perhaps the high point of this recording. This CD also includes the most famous hymn of the South American continent: Hanaq Pachoq, a moving composition written by the Franciscan brother, Juan Perez
Bocanegra.

To discover the archives of the Peruvian Andes’ great sanctuaries (Cusco, Arequipa, Guayaquil and Lima…) : so many churches that knew intense and rich musical activity throughout the colonial period (17th 19th centuries).
This selection includes the favourite hymn of the whole South American continent, the famous Hanaq Pachaq, a moving composition written by the Franciscan brother, Juan Pérez Bocanegra.
A musical language whose creativity and freshness will astonish, wonderfully interpreted by the Cubans of the Exaudi Choir who have restored all its authenticity.

Motets, psalms, cantatas, villancicos from the archives of Upper Peru (today Bolivia). Composed by obscure, unknown or official musicians like Roque Cerruti (1683-1760), these compositions are a testimony of their composers’ naïve faith and a homage to the refinement of the discreetly virtuoso music it inspired.
With their colourful and sensual voices, the singers of the Exaudi Choir have been remarkably successful in restoring the atmosphere of a repertory that is often distorted by representations that are fantastical, or based on European criteria, far removed from the American universe.

Some Cantadas composed for the reconstruction of the Chapel of the Carmen which was
destroyed by the earthquake that devastated Santiago de Cuba in 1766. Probably the most moving and accomplished of the composer's works. A glowing polyphony !

A half-caste priest and brilliant composer, Esteban Salas (1725-1803) carried the flame of scared music through his long career in Cuban churches. Salas' work reflects the clarity and the freshness of the best Spanish and Italian composers. He blended the old and the new, but his style stands alone in its so-called "tropical exuberance." This recording includes a large selection of Salas' art: Devociones a la Virgin del Carmen, Villancicos, Misa, Requiem and more.

The archives found on the site of the ancient Royal Court at Quito. The composers whose works feature on this disk are of various origins. Some never went to the New World, but their works were widely performed there; others are Americanised Spaniards like Araujo, Torrejon de Velasco or Manuel Gaytan y Arteaga; some are 100% Americans like Ignacio Quispe and Moraes Pedrozo whose Te Deum is perhaps the high point of this recording.
An interpretation that puts the accent on freshness, colour and sensuality from one of Latin America’s finest ensembles: the Capilla Virreinal de Lima conducted by Andrés Santa María.

The revelation of the work of a still little-known Spanish master: Carlos Patiño (1600-1675).
This native of Galicia first worked in Seville (popular music, music for the theatre) before going to the court at Madrid where in 1634 he became Master of the Royal Chapel under Philippe IV. There, he composed mainly religious music that reveals the subtlety of artistic exchange at the heart of baroque Europe.
But his work becomes even more mysterious in the light of the prodigious success it received in the 17th and 18th centuries in the New World, and this without Patiño ever having been there.
All over the continent, in Cusco, Lima, Potosí, Arequipa, Mexico, Puebla, in the great sanctuaries and the modest chapels of the Cordillera in the Andes, evidence of his work being performed has been found.
To explore the archives and restore the authenticity of an American interpretation of these pieces: that is the purpose of this recording.

Six of Vivaldi’s famous concertos arranged for the trumpet, interpreted by one of today’s greatest trumpetists: Bernard Soustrot.
Plunge into the exalted universe of the Venetian master: technical prowess, fiendish chord progressions and flamboyant melodics. Sheer delight.

A return to the source of music with the most beautiful sacred music in the repertory: Miserere by Allegri, the Stabat Mater by Pergolese, the Ave Verum Corpus by Mozart, the Pie Jesu by Fauré, Ave Maria by Poulenc… 11 titles for an exceptional anthology spanning five centuries of mystic inspiration in music.

Guy Morançon, titulary player of the Grand Organ of the Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Basilica in Paris and Guy Deplus, one of the masters of the French school of clarinet, together imagined this programme that includes transcriptions of famous works: Schubert’s Ave Maria, Schumann’s Reverie, Fauré’s Après un rêve and some original compositions: Pièces ornementales by Guy Morançon. The melodious alliance of two mystical instruments.

A subtle and original alliance: the organ and the oboe. Transcriptions of famous works of Bach, Telemann, Haendel and a piece to discover: the Fanatasy in F minor by Johann Ludwig Krebs ( 1713-1780), the only work in the repertory originally written for these two instruments. Simply enchanting.

Trumpet radiant with vocal splendour: vigorous, lithe and precise, ringing out with the simple pleasure of performing these eternal works.

Exploring the famous Hymns of Tahiti - a tradition that emerged at the end of the XIXth century. These sacred songs were born from the hymns of the first missionaries and Tahitian polyphonies, sung before the arrival of the Europeans. The voices of the Saint-Paul Chorale of Mahina give us a genuine performance of this moving tradition.

Missa solemnis composed by the master of Corsican polyphony.
Jean-Paul Poletti’s music goes back a long way. It is rich in a secular tradition, that of Corsical polyphony, itself heir to the mysterious echoes of the Mediterranean. It reflects the soul of a people, the purity of their emotions, the surge of their faith.
With this Messa Sulenna, Jean-Paul Poletti blends two types of music: Corsican polyphony in its purist, rawest form, and the classic mixed four voice choir. A work that reminds us what music is - quite simply - harmony!

This recording presents two exceptional features :
1. It has been realized on the organ on which Messiaen used to play, and improvise, and where his organ works were created : the famous Cavaillé-Coll of the
Trinite,
Paris.
2. Six world acclaimed organists have participated in this recording. Each of them had the opportunity to work and delve into their pieces with Messiaen. All of them were appreciated by Messiaen for the richness and the virtuosity of their performances.
