FAITH

God is faithful and true

• Psalms 88:34-36 "But my mercy I will not take away from him: nor will I suffer my truth to fail. Neither will I profane my covenant: and the words that proceed from my mouth I will not make void. Once have I sworn by my holiness: I will not lie unto David"
• Romans 3:3-4 "For what if some of them have not believed? Shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid! But God is true and every man a liar, as it is written: That thou mayest be justified in thy words and mayest overcome when thou art judged."

• Hebrews 11:17-19 "By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son ... Accounting that God is able to raise up even from the dead. Whereupon also he received him for a parable."(For a parable ... That is, as a figure of Christ, slain and coming to life again, faithful to His promises as He was to Abraham, having power even to raise up from the dead.)

Faith is demanded by Christ

• Saint Matthew 9:28 "And when he was come to the house, the blind men came to him. And Jesus saith to them, Do you believe, that I can do this unto you? They say to him, Yea, Lord."
• Saint Mark 4:40 "And he said to them: Why are you fearful? have you not faith yet? And they feared exceedingly: and they said one to another: Who is this (thinkest thou) that both wind and sea obey him?"
• Saint Luke 8:25 "And he said to them: Where is your faith? Who being afraid, wondered, saying one to another: Who is this (think you), that he commandeth both the winds and the sea: and they obey him?"
• Saint John 8:24 "Therefore I said to you that you shall die in your sins. For if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sin."
• Saint John 9:35 "Jesus heard that they had cast him out. And when he had found him, he said to him: Dost thou believe in the Son of God?"

Christians called believers men of faith

• Acts 5:14 "And the multitude of men and women who believed in the Lord was more increased"
• Acts 9:42 "And it was made known throughout all Joppe. And many believed in the Lord."
• Acts 14:1 "And it came to pass in Iconium that they entered together into the synagogue of the Jews and so spoke that a very great multitude both of the Jews and of the Greeks did believe."
• Acts 15:7 "And when there had been much disputing, Peter, rising up, said to them: Men, brethren, you know that in former days God made choice among us, that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe."

Just man lives by faith

• Habacuc 2:4 "Behold, he that is unbelieving, his soul shall not be right in himself: but the just shall live in his faith."
• Romans 1:17 "For the justice of God is revealed therein, from faith unto faith, as it is written: The just man liveth by faith."
• Romans 3:22 "Even the justice of God, by faith of Jesus Christ, unto all, and upon all them that believe in him: for there is no distinction."
• Galatians 3:11 "But that in the law no man is justified with God, it is manifest: because the just man liveth by faith."
• Hebrews 10:38 "But my just man liveth by faith: but if he withdraw himself, he shall not please my soul."

Faith is assurance of things hoped for

• Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel. For it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth: to the Jew first and to the Greek."(Salvation is the hope of every one that believeth.)
• Romans 4:20 "In the promise also of God he staggered not by distrust: but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God"
• 2 Corinthians 4:18 "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal: but the things which are not seen, are eternal."(Our hope is in the things which are not seen.)
• Hebrews 11:1 "Now, faith is the substance of things to be hoped for, the evidence of things that appear not."

Life for all who believe with faith

• Romans 6:8 "Now, if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall live also together with Christ."
• Romans 10:10 "For, with the heart, we believe unto justice: but, with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation."
• 2 Corinthians 4:13-14 "But having the same spirit of faith, as it is written: I believed, for which cause I have spoken; we also believe. For which cause we speak also: Knowing that he who raised up Jesus will raise us up also with Jesus and place us with you."
• Ephesians 1:19 "And what is the exceeding greatness of his power towards us, who believe according to the operation of the might of his power"
• Colossians 2:12 "Buried with him in baptism: in whom also you are risen again by the faith of the operation of God who hath raised him up from the dead"
• 1 Saint Peter 1;5 "Who, by the power of God, are kept by faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time."

Faith calls for obedience

• Acts 6:7 "And the word of the Lord increased: and the number of the disciples was multiplied in Jerusalem exceedingly. A great multitude also of the priests obeyed the faith."
• Romans 1:5 "By whom we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith, in all nations, for his name"
• Romans 6:16-17 "Know you not that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are whom you obey, whether it be of sin unto death or of obedience unto justice. But thanks be to God, that you were the servants of sin but have obeyed from the heart unto that form of doctrine into which you have been delivered."
• Romans 15:18 "For I dare not to speak of any of those things which Christ worketh not by me, for the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed"
• Romans 16:19 "For your obedience is published in every place. I rejoice therefore in you. But I would have you to be wise in good and simple in evil."
• Romans 16:26 "(Which now is made manifest by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the precept of the eternal God, for the obedience of faith) known among all nations"
• 2 Corinthians 10:6 "And having in readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience shall be fulfilled."

Faith is confirmed with baptism

• Acts 2:41 "They therefore that received his word were baptized: and there were added in that day about three thousand souls."
• Acts 8:12-13 "But when they had believed Philip preaching of the kingdom of God, in the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women."
• Acts 10:44-48 "While Peter was yet speaking these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them that heard the word. And the faithful of the circumcision, who came with Peter, were astonished for that the grace of the Holy Ghost was poured out upon the Gentiles also. For they heard them speaking with tongues and magnifying God. Then Peter answered: Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Ghost, as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then they desired him to tarry with them some days."
• Acts 16:14-15 "And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, one that worshipped God, did hear: whose heart the Lord opened to attend to those things which were said by Paul."
• Acts 16:31-33 "But they said: believe in the Lord Jesus: and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they preached the word of the Lord to him and to all that were in his house. And he, taking them the same hour of the night, washed their stripes: and himself was baptized, and all his house immediately."

• 1 Corinthians 1:14-17 "I give God thanks, that I baptized none of you but Crispus and Caius: Lest any should say that you were baptized in my name. And I baptized also the household of Stephanus. Besides, I know not whether I baptized any other. For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not in wisdom of speech, lest the cross of Christ should be made void."
• Hebrews 10:22 "Let us draw near with a true heart, in fulness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with clean water."

And we become adopted sons of God

• John 1:12 "But as many as received him, he gave them power to be made the sons of God, to them that believe in his name."
• Galatians 3:26 "For you are all the children of God, by faith in Christ Jesus."
• Galatians 4:5-7 "That he might redeem them who were under the law: that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because you are sons, God hath sent the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying: Abba, Father. Therefore, now he is not a servant, but a son. And if a son, an heir also through God."

Faith comes from preaching

• Acts 4:1-4 "And as they were speaking to the people the priests and the officer of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them, Being grieved that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead: And they laid hands upon them and put them in hold till the next day: for it was now evening. But many of them who had heard the word believed: and the number of the men was made five thousand."
• Acts 8:5-6 "They therefore that were dispersed went about preaching the word of God. And Philip, going down to the city of Samaria, preached Christ unto them."
• Acts 8:31 "Who said: And how can I, unless some man shew me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.(An Infallible Bible is of NO use without an Infallible Interpreter, The Most Holy Roman Catholic Church.)"
• Acts 17:11 "Now these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, who received the word with all eagerness, daily searching the scriptures, whether these things were so."
• Romans 10:14-17 "How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? Or how shall they believe him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?"
• 2 Corinthians 1:19 "For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, by me and Sylvanus and Timothy, was not: It is and It is not. But, It is, was in him."
• Colossians 1:23 "If so ye continue in the faith, grounded and settled, and immoveable from the hope of the gospel which you have heard, which is preached in all the creation that is under heaven: whereof I Paul am made a minister."

Without faith we cannot please God

• Romans 2:7-8 "To them indeed who, according to patience in good work, seek glory and honour and incorruption, eternal life: But to them that are contentious and who obey not the truth but give credit to iniquity, wrath and indignation."
• Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please God. For he that cometh to God must believe that he is: and is a rewarder to them that seek him."

Faith and good works are complementary

• Galatians 5:6 "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing nor uncircumcision: but faith that worketh by Charity."
