SIN

Sin is rebellion against God

• Numbers 15:29-30 "The same law shall be for all that sin by ignorance, whether they be natives or strangers. But the soul that committeth any thing through pride, whether he be born in the land or a stranger (because he hath been rebellious against the Lord) shall be cut off from among his people"
• Deuteronomy 32:5 "They have sinned against him, and are none of his children in their filth: they are a wicked and perverse generation."
• Job 35:6 "If thou sin, what shalt thou hurt him? and if thy iniquities be multiplied, what shalt thou do against him?"
• Isaias 48:8 "Thou hast neither heard, nor known, neither was thy ear opened of old. For I know that transgressing thou wilt transgress, and I have called thee a transgressor from the womb."
• Baruch 4:8 "For you have forgotten God, who brought you up, and you have grieved Jerusalem that nursed you."

Sin is failure to attain God's glory

• 1 Saint Peter 2:20 "For what glory is it, if, committing sin and being buffeted for it, you endure? But if doing well you suffer patiently: this is thankworthy before God."

Sin alienates us from God

• Romans 3:23 "And it shall be, that every soul which will not hear that prophet shall be destroyed from among the people."(Not hearing prophets, for example the 3 seers of Fatima, is sin, will destroy us and separate us from God.)
• Romans 1:18 "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and injustice of those men that detain the truth of God in injustice"
• Ephesians 4:18 "Having their understanding darkened: being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their hearts."
• Colossians 1:21 "And you, whereas you were some time alienated and enemies in mind in evil works"

Sin makes us slave of sin

• Saint John 8:34 "Jesus answered them: Amen, amen, I say unto you that whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin."
• Romans 6:16 "Know you not that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are whom you obey, whether it be of sin unto death or of obedience unto justice."(Shall we be servents of truth and TRUE obedience, or slaves of sin and death?)
• 2 Saint Peter 2:19 "Promising them liberty, whereas they themselves are the slaves of corruption. For by whom a man is overcome, of the same also he is the slave."

Sin is cause of death

• Genesis 3:17 "And to Adam he said: Because thou hast hearkened to the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee, that thou shouldst not eat, cursed is the earth in thy work: with labour and toil shalt thou eat thereof all the days of thy life."
• Wisdom 1:12 "Seek not death in the error of your life, neither procure ye destruction by the works of your hands."
• Wisdom 2:24 "But by the envy of the devil, death came into the world"
• Ecclesiasticus "The wickedness of a woman changeth her face: and she darkeneth her countenance as a bear: and sheweth it like sackcloth. In the midst of her neighbours"
• Romans 5:12 "Wherefore as by one man sin entered into this world and by sin death: and so death passed upon all men, in whom all have sinned."

Sin is from devil

• Saint John 8:44 "You are of your father the devil: and the desires of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning: and he stood not in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof."
• Acts 13:10 "Said: O full of all guile and of all deceit, child of the devil, enemy of all justice, thou ceases not to pervert the right ways of the Lord."
• 1 Saint John 3:8 "He that committeth sin is of the devil: for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God appeared, that he might destroy the works of the devil."

The unforgivable sin

• Saint Matthew 12:31-32 "Therefore I say to you: Every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but the blasphemy of the Spirit shall not be forgiven. And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but he that shall speak against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him neither in this world, nor in the world to come."(The sin against the virtue of hope: despair and presumption.)
• Saint Luke 12:10 "And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but to him that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven."

Sins that exclude us from God's Kingdom

• 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 "Know you not that the unjust shall not possess the kingdom of God? Do not err: Neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers: Nor the effeminate nor liers with mankind nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor railers nor extortioners shall possess the kingdom of God."
• Galatians 5:19-21 "Now the works of the flesh are manifest: which are fornication, uncleanness, immodesty, luxury, Idolatry, witchcrafts, enmities, contentions, emulations, wraths, quarrels, dissensions, sects, Envies, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like. Of the which I foretell you, as I have foretold to you, that they who do such things shall not obtain the kingdom of God."
• Ephesians 5:3-5 "But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not so much as be named among you, as becometh saints: Or obscenity or foolish talking or scurrility, which is to no purpose: but rather giving of thanks. For know you this and understand: That no fornicator or unclean or covetous person (which is a serving of idols) hath inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God."
• 1 Colossians 3:5-8 "3:5. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth: fornication, uncleanness, lust, evil concupiscence and covetousness, which is the service of idols. For which things the wrath of God cometh upon the children of unbelief. In which you also walked some time, when you lived in them. But now put you also all away: anger, indignation, malice, blasphemy, filthy speech out of your mouth."
• Hebrews 13:4-5 "Marriage honourable in all, and the bed undefiled. For fornicators and adulterers God will judge. Let your manners be without covetousness, contented with such things as you have. For he hath said: I will not leave thee: neither will I forsake thee."

God desires sinner's return

• Isaias 49:14-16 "And Sion said: The Lord hath forsaken me, and the Lord hath forgotten me. Can a woman forget her infant, so as not to have pity on the son of her womb? and if she should forget, yet will not I forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee in my hands: thy walls are always before my eyes."
• Jeremias 3:12 "Go, and proclaim these words towards the north, and thou shalt say: Return, O rebellious Israel, saith the Lord, and I will not turn away my face from you: for I am holy, saith the Lord, and I will not be angry for ever."
• Ezechiel 33:11 "Say to them: As I live, saith the Lord God, I desire not the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way, and live. Turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways: and why will you die, O house of Israel?"
• Saint Luke 15:20-22 "And rising up, he came to his father. And when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him and was moved with compassion and running to him fell upon his neck and kissed him. And the son said to him: Father: I have sinned against heaven and before thee I am not now worthy to be called thy son. And the father said to his servants: Bring forth quickly the first robe and put it on him: and put a ring on his hand and shoes on his feet."(God always welcomes back the penitent sinner.)
• Saint Luke 18:13-14 "And the publican, standing afar off, would not so much as lift up his eyes towards heaven; but struck his breast, saying: O God, be merciful to me a sinner. I say to you, this man went down into his house justified rather than the other: because every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled: and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted."
• Saint Luke 19:10 "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost."
• Saint John 8:11 "Who said: No man, Lord. And Jesus said: Neither will I condemn thee. Go, and now sin no more."
• Romans 11:32 "For God hath concluded all in unbelief, that he may have mercy on all."
• 2 Saint Peter 3:9 "The Lord delayeth not his promise, as some imagine, but dealeth patiently for your sake, not willing that any should perish, but that all should return to penance"

Only God can forgive sin

• Saint Mark 2:7 "Why doth this man speak thus? He blasphemeth. Who can forgive sins, but God only?"
• Saint Luke 5:21 "And the scribes and Pharisees began to think, saying: Who is this who speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?"

Christ forgives sins

• Saint Matthew 9:2 "And behold they brought to him one sick of the palsy lying in a bed. And Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the man sick of the palsy: Be of good heart, son, thy sins are forgiven thee."
• Saint Mark 2:10 "But that you may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins (he saith to the sick of the palsy)"
• Saint Luke 5:24 "But that you may know that the Son of man hath the power on earth to forgive sins (he saith to the sick of the palsy), I say to thee to: Arise, take up thy bed and go into thy house."
• Saint Luke 7:48 "And he said to her: Thy sins are forgiven thee."
• Saint John 5:14 "Afterwards, Jesus findeth him in the temple and saith to him: Behold thou art made whole: sin no more, lest some worse thing happen to thee."

Delegated this power to his ministers

• Saint John 20:21-23 "He said therefore to them again: Peace be to you. As the Father hath sent me, I also send you. When he had said this, he breathed on them; and he said to them: Receive ye the Holy Ghost. Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them: and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained."

GRACE

Grace is a free gift of God

• Zacharias 12:10 "And I will pour out upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace, and of prayers: and they shall look upon me[Christ], whom they have pierced: and they shall mourn for him[Christ] as one mourneth for an only son, and they shall grieve over him[Christ], as the manner is to grieve for the death of the firstborn[Christ]."
• Saint John 1:16 "And of his fulness we all have received: and grace for grace."
• Saint John 3:27 "John answered and said: A man cannot receive any thing, unless it be given him from heaven."
• Romans 3:24 "Being justified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus"
• Romans 5:15 "But not as the offence, so also the gift. For if by the offence of one, many died: much more the grace of God and the gift, by the grace of one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many."

Grace is given through Jesus

God's grace is inexhaustible

Riches come from throne of grace

Grace makes us strong in faith

• Acts 4:33 "And with great power did the Apostles give testimony of the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord: and great grace was in them all."
• Acts 6:8 "And Stephen, full of grace and fortitude, did great wonders and signs among the people."
• Acts 14:3 "A long time therefore they abode there, dealing confidently in the Lord, who gave testimony to the word of his grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands."

Grace needed to spread the faith

• Romans 1:5 "By whom we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith, in all nations, for his name"(Grace is needed to perform apostolic works.)

Grace prepares us for eternal life

• Romans 5:2 "By whom also we have access through faith into this grace wherein we stand: and glory in the hope of the glory of the sons of God."
• Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death. But the grace of God, life everlasting in Christ Jesus our Lord."
• Titus 1:2 "Unto the hope of life everlasting, which God, who lieth not, hath promised before the times of the world"
• 1 Saint Peter 1:13 "Wherefore, having the loins of your mind girt up, being sober, trust perfectly in the grace which is offered you in the revelation of Jesus Christ."

God gives grace to the humble

• Proverbs 3:34 "He shall scorn the scorners, and to the meek he will give grace."
• Saint James 4:6 "But he giveth greater grace. Wherefore he saith: God resisteth the proud and giveth grace to the humble."
• 1 Saint Peter 5:5 "In like manner, ye young men, be subject to the ancients. And do you all insinuate humility one to another: for God resisteth the proud, but to the humble he giveth grace."

Grace demands a response

• 1 Corinthians 15:10 "But by the grace of God, I am what I am. And his grace in me hath not been void: but I have laboured more abundantly than all they. Yet not I, but the grace of God with me"

By grace we grow in knowledge of Christ

• 2 Saint Peter 3:18 "But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and unto the day of eternity, Amen."

Grace more plentiful than sin

• Romans 5:15 "But not as the offence, so also the gift. For if by the offence of one, many died: much more the grace of God and the gift, by the grace of one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many."
• Romans 5:20 "Now the law entered in that sin might abound. And where sin abounded, grace did more abound."
• Romans 6:1 "What shall we say, then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?"
• 2 Corinthians 12:9 "And he said to me: My grace is sufficient for thee: for power is made perfect in infirmity. Gladly therefore will I glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may dwell in me."

Grace can be lost

• Hebrews 12:14-15 "Follow peace with all men and holiness: without which no man shall see God. Looking diligently, lest any man be wanting to the grace of God: lest any root of bitterness springing up do hinder and by it many be defiled"(Without grace to make us holy, we will become defiled.)
• Saint Jude 1:4 "For certain men are secretly entered in (who were written of long ago unto this judgment), ungodly men, turning the grace of our Lord God into riotousness and denying the only sovereign Ruler and our Lord Jesus Christ."(Rejecting grace results in riotousness, in disorderness of the soul.)

• Romans 1:7 "To all that are at Rome, the beloved of God, called to be saints. Grace to you and peace, from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ."
• 1 Corinthians 1:3 "Grace to you and peace, from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ."
• 2 Corinthians 1:2 "Grace unto you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ."
